A former professional boxer was “airborne” as he landed a hit that knocked a man out for nine minutes at a rock gig, leaving his victim with skull fractures and amnesia.

Kerrey James Foley, 37, was “windmilling” towards a 55-year-old at a rock gig at the Label nightclub in Sydney’s Northern Beaches on March 9 last year before he landed a hit to the older man’s head.

CCTV footage of the incident was played several times in the NSW District Court during a multi-day hearing, with Judge Jane Culver on Monday remarking Mr Foley’s feet “lift off the ground” as he landed the blow.

“He goes airborne as he then lunges forward and, with his left arm, punches the head of the victim,” Judge Culver said.
