President Donald Trump slammed New York Governor Kathy Hochul's endorsement of Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Monday.

In an early morning Truth Social post he called it "a rather shocking development, and a very bad one for New York City."

"How can such a thing happen?" the president pondered to his millions of followers on the social-media platform he owns. "Washington will be watching this situation very closely. No reason to be sending good money after bad!"

Trump also referred to Mamdani, a democratic socialist, as ""Liddle' Communist," Zohran Mamdani."

Hochul, a Democrat, announced her endorsement on Sunday in a New York Times opinion piece, in which she praised the 33-year-old's leadership and their shared priorities, including public safety
