Two days after all her colleagues on the Chesterfield County School Board called on her to resign, Dot Heffron put out a statement Sunday night saying she would step down at the end of the year.
The decision comes after the school board representative for the Clover Hill District was rebuked by many, including prominent Republicans, for a social media post about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The 31-year-old provocateur died last Wednesday after being shot at an outdoor speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. His suspected killer, 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson, was taken into custody Friday after he was turned in by his own father.
