Chilliwack's first-ever U18 female rep team will play their inaugural game this Saturday, Sept. 20.

Dale Johnson, director for female program from Chilliwack Minor Hockey, said the creation of the team is a historic step forward for the community. It also builds on the Warrior program, which has grown steadily in the last several years.

This milestone represents the continued growth of women’s hockey in the Fraser Valley and reflects the sport’s rising popularity across Canada, a press release from Johnson noted. And that popularity is "inspired in part by the success of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL)."
