Slowing demand for large, high-priced, battery-powered pick-ups has led Ram to slam the brakes on plans for an electric Ram 1500.
Ram has cancelled plans for an electric version of its full-size 1500 pick-up to rival the Tesla Cybertruck and Ford F-150 Lightning due to low expected demand in its US home market.
Once mooted for Australian showrooms, the launch of the electric Ram 1500 REV was repeatedly delayed from an initial target of late 2024, to as far back as mid-2027.
Amid a slump in demand for large electric pick-ups – from the Cybertruck to more conventional Ford and Chevrolet competition – the project has now been scrapped entirely by Ram.
