CALEXICO — Local and Imperial Valley residents enjoyed food and beverages on Saturday evening during the Mexican Grito event hosted by the Calexico Rotary Club and the Mexican Consulate.

The Mexican community came together this weekend to commemorate the 215th anniversary of the Grito de Independencia, Mexico’s historic call for freedom. The celebration, hosted in collaboration with several sponsors, brought together local leaders, cultural organizations, and residents for an evening of tradition, pride, and unity.

Local vendors installed their booths in the southern part of the park offering tacos, hamburgers, hot dogs, mini pancakes, aguas frescas, and other items, while the audience enjoyed food and drinks combined with local musicians and folkloric dances.
