MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WKRN) — President Donald Trump will send the National Guard to Memphis after White House officials cited rising crime in the city.
In the Oval Office on Monday, Trump sat beside Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and announced the "Memphis Safe Task Force" — a federal initiative that includes the FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE, U.S. Marshals and other agencies.
"The numbers are really something. They're really bad," Trump said. He added that people in Memphis were "four times more likely to be murdered" than in Mexico City.
"And you know Mexico City is not a cake walk," he added.
