The league stage of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League has kicked off, with some of Europe's biggest soccer powers in action Wednesday.
Club World Cup champions Chelsea will head to Germany, where Bayern Munich await in a clash worthy of the knockout rounds. Liverpool will face one of their most difficult group-stage games, with Atlético Madrid visiting Anfield for what could be a high-tension battle. Paris Saint-Germain, who won last year's Champions League, will host Italian club Atalanta.
Due to a lack of conflicting matchdays in the Europa League and Europa Conference League (two lesser continental tournaments run by UEFA), this is the only week containing three days featuring Champions League play. Tuesday's games included a 2-1 win for Real Madrid and a wild 4-4 draw between Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
