Leroy G. Newman Sr.

Leroy G. Newman Sr., 90, passed away on Aug. 24, 2025, at home in Kapaa. He was born on Feb. 4, 1935, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Navy and retired as a textbook editor with the Texas State Board of Education.

He was preceded in passing by his parents Lewis Newman and Frances C’de’Baca, brothers Arthur Gallegos, Mickey Newman, sisters Cecilia Gallegos and Anna Newman.

Leroy is survived by his wife Beatrice Lemke-Newman, sons Greg (Tiffany) Newman, Garrett P. (Lisa) Newman, Gavin P. (Marina) Newman, daughter Kristen Pire, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m., with M
