The Wood River Wolverines offense “set the tone” early in a 6-1 victory over the Sun Valley Community School Cutthroats in Idaho high school boys soccer action at Browning Field in Sun Valley on Saturday.

“Today, defenders did what defenders are supposed to do,” said Wolverines head coach Greg Gvozdas. “Midfielders served [passes] and forwards finished. It was a complete game front-to-back.”

Cutthroats head coach Richard Whitelaw praised the Wolverines, using the words “big," "strong" and "fast” to describe them.

“Wood River scored good goals and moved it around well,” he said. “We knew what we were up against. When we play as a team, start to connect and concentrate on the game on hand, we can do well.
