If Burges High School volleyball keeps playing well on offense like it did at Jefferson, a District 1-5A title will be a possibility this season

Paced by hitters Rhianna Benford, Deisha Fuimaono, and Emily Rodriguez and setter Haley Cordova, the Mustangs defeated the Silver Foxes on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21, in the district opener for both teams.

Benford led the way with 10 kills, while Rodriguez and Fuimaono had nine kills apiece. Cordova finished with 20 assists.

"We're growing as a team, we are gaining more confidence," Burges coach Christina Marenco said. "We have a good offense and we did some good things against a tough Jefferson team. It's a competitive district and we're glad we got this first one."
