BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Anton du Beke calls for major voting rule change

The Launch Show for Strictly Come Dancing 2025 is just a few short days away, but once it starts, fans will have to get used to a new voting system.

The BBC competition's offer of premium-rate phone voting is now coming to an end.

Similar to the European Song Contest, voting will now take place online, with the BBC calling premium-rate phone voting " an outdated system and also expensive to run".

Judge Anton Du Beke has called on the BBC to revamp the voting system further, allowing viewers to cast their ballots throughout the entire week for their preferred couples.

The 59-year-old believes that the increased viewership moving to streaming on BBC iPlayer means that the time for voting should shift as well.
