It’s been a week since conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a university event in Utah, and yet, even in America’s fast-moving news cycle, the murder is still among the top stories of the land. Social media discourse on the topic has been particularly vitriolic.

No matter where you stand politically, we all should condemn the assassination, along with the murders of Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman, her husband and her dog just a few months ago. We should all condemn school shootings, or any mass murders that take place all too often in our country. However, it’s a fine line between what we should do, and what we are made to do.
