WARREN The Trumbull County grand jury has handed up a two-count indictment naming a Champion Township man in an animal cruelty investigation.

Jason Gribble, 46, faces two felony counts of prohibitions concerning companion animals after a deceased dog and cat were found in a Champion Township home.

The charges stem from a July incident where a dead dog was discovered in a locked crate and a cat was found dead in the home's basement.

Jason Cooke, president and CEO of the Healthy Hearts & Paws Project, said on Facebook that he was called to a residence on Alva Avenue to assist a responding officer. Cooke and the officer found the two deceased animals.
