NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- The Naval sailor charged in the death of local sailor Angelina Resendiz is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday.

Jerimiah Copeland, who is accused in the death of fellow servicemember Angelina Resendiz, was also recently charged with rape, sexual assault, making false statements, distributing revenge porn and obstruction of justice in connection with Resendiz's death.

Resendiz, who was initially reported to have been last seen around 10 a.m. on May 29, was later found in a wooded area in Norfolk on June 10. The Medical Examiner's Office ruled Resendiz's death "undetermined."
