A federal operation that ended in an arrest caused panic in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on Tuesday.

Many residents believed that the officers were immigration agents, raising concerns and impacting local businesses. Residents reported seeing undercover agents and others wearing vests that read "police" smashing the window of a vehicle with a passenger inside.

"They arrived early and parked. They had license plates from other states, and then the young man arrived on his pickup truck," said Lady Garcia, a witness to the incident. "They surrounded him and started knocking on the car window. He handed them some papers, but they didn't accept them. Then he rolled up the window and they smashed it."
