NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) -- Medical emergency led to a homicide investigation involving a body with a gunshot wound.

Last night, the New Iberia Police Department responded to a medical emergency in the 900 block of Mississippi Street, police said.

According to officers, they located a male individual in the doorway of a residence with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

No suspect has been identified. This case remains under investigation. We will update as more information is released.
