LAKE LURE, N.C. — The Environmental Protection Agency joined state and local officials at multiple locations across western North Carolina on Wednesday to showcase recovery work completed over the past year and highlight ongoing rebuilding efforts in the region after Hurricane Helene.
EPA officials joined local leaders at several landmarks, including the Lake Lure Dam and Morse Park, to reflect on the recovery that’s been made and the work still left to do.
“Seeing what our staff, as well as the other agencies we've been working with, have been able to accomplish in this amount of time is very, very encouraging,” Lake Lure Town Manager Olivia Stewman said.
