SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Satellite images show that Tropical Storm Gabrielle is still disorganized, with a stretched-out circulation and patches of storms sitting well east of the center because of strong upper-level winds. Even so, satellite measurements confirm winds near 45 mph (40 kt), so the system has been named Gabrielle.
Gabrielle isn’t expected to strengthen much over the next couple of days because of wind shear and possible shifts in its center. By the weekend, however, conditions should improve and the storm could gradually strengthen into a hurricane by early next week. Forecast confidence in its exact intensity remains low.
