A Metairie woman was booked with second-degree murder after authorities say she stabbed her husband to death inside a vehicle Tuesday night.

Carmella Motley, 60, was arrested in the 6000 block of Live Oak Boulevard in Waggaman after Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a car crash about 10 p.m., said Sgt. Brandon Veal, spokesperson for the department.

The victim has not been identified.

When deputies arrived, they found the man lying wounded in a nearby ditch. He's been stabbed several times, Veal said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Motley was also present. Detectives learned that the couple was inside the vehicle when an "altercation occurred" between them, Veal said.
