“I was living in Richmond Hill then, so it would be before 1979. My friend and I thought it would be fun,” she recalled.

Her friend stopped after the second time. But if you substitute “important” for “fun,” you soon marvel at Larocque’s milestone: 400 times.

She says it is just a number. Going to the Canadian Blood Services just became a regular part of her life.
