Former CDC director Susan Monarez told lawmakers Wednesday that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. informed her he planned to change the nation’s childhood immunization schedule this September. Monarez testified before the Senate health committee that Kennedy provided no scientific evidence to justify the change and pressured her to support it, something she refused to do.

Her account directly contradicts Kennedy’s earlier assurances to Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., during his confirmation hearings that he would not interfere with the vaccine schedule.
