Aroldis Chapman didn’t allow a hit in 17 straight appearances until last week when the Athletics’ Shea Langeliers ended the streak .
Lawrence Butler drove in Langeliers with a walk-off hit to beat the Boston Red Sox , 5-4. But it’s not the hit, the win or Langeliers ending Chapman’s historic streak that will stick out the most to Butler.
“What’s gonna stick me is I didn’t get the $500 that (Brent) Rooker was giving out to whoever broke the streak,” Butler said on MLB Network’s “Intentional Talk.”
Chapman’s dominant run lasted six weeks, included 14⅔ innings and dated back to July 23. At some point, the streak was going to end.
