Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) hammered FBI Director Kash Patel when questioning him before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.
Lieu asked simply whether he had seen all of the images included in the investigation files around accused child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. He began by questioning the discovery of a safe when raiding the Epstein mansion.
"I don't have the catalogue of evidence in front of me, sir," Patel said, refusing to answer.
Lieu began citing the New York Times report saying that the lewd images were found. He also played a video clip of author Michael Wolff saying that Epstein showed him photos of President Donald "Trump with girls of an uncertain age at Epstein's Palm Beach house."
"Are there photos of showing Donald Trump with girls of an uncertain age?" asked Lieu.
Patel said, "No."
"How do you know that?" Lieu questioned.
"Because the information would've been brought to light by multiple administrations," said Patel.
"That's just not true. Nobody knew about the creepy birthday message that Trump wrote to Epstein until the Wall Street Journal disclosed it and then all of the sudden, the Epstein estate provides it to Congress," pointed out Lieu.
Lieu said that it's possible that the Epstein estate still has evidence not obtained by the FBI, which Patel noted was a good point. So Lieu asked why Patel won't go and get that information, which Patel said he could not.
"You're the freaking FBI! You can subpoena information from the estate," said Lieu.
Patel said that the estate doesn't have to provide anything, even with a subpoena.
He went on to ask whether Prince Andrew was named on the list of Epstein clients and Patel refused to say. He noted only that it was publicly available information. Lieu pointed out the significance of Patel refusing to answer.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) released information from an FBI whistleblower in July, saying that agents were working 24 hours a day searching through all of the documents for Trump's name or any reference to him.
