A victim of a triple stabbing in East Vancouver was previously married to the suspect, police said Tuesday, a day after they confirmed the victim succumbed to her injuries.

Vancouver police say they will be recommending further charges against Viet Quy John Ly, 54, who remains in custody after the stabbings in the Collingwood neighbourhood.

Jinfeng Guan, 50, died in hospital last Thursday as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.

On Tuesday, Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison told CBC News the previous marriage between Guan and Ly would factor into the investigation of the case.

Jianghui Deng, 55, and Chinxiu Yun, 54, were already confirmed dead after they were found inside an apartment building near Joyce Street and Vanness Avenue on Sept. 5.
