Tracking the tropics: AM Sept. 17, 2025

FOX 35 Storm Team Meteorologist Brooks Garner gives us a look at the latest developments in the tropics as Tropical Depression Seven, previously Invest 92L, formed in the Atlantic Basin early Wednesday morning. Garner is also looking at a tropical wave located a couple of hundred miles east-southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands that is being monitored.

What we know:

Forecasters with the NHC say Tropical Storm Gabrielle, previously Tropical Depression Seven and Invest 92L, is currently located about 1,085 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving toward the north-northwest near 22 mph.

An erratic northwestward to west-northwestward motion at a reduced forward speed is anticipated across the Tropical
