YPSILANTI, MI -- Portions of Ypsilanti will be under a precautionary boil water advisory starting Thursday after scheduled work on a nearby water main.

The water will be shut off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 18 for scheduled upgrades to water mains along West Warner Avenue and Harriet Street, according the Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority.

Water will be shut off in the following areas:

Hawkins Street between Harriet and Franklin streets

Harriet Street between First Avenue and Hawkins Street

Parkridge Community Center, 591 Armstrong Drive

Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ, 436 Hawkins St.

Metropolitan Memorial Baptist Church, 431 Hawkins St.

The work is scheduled as part of broader improvements to infrastructure, officials said.
