If you've heard the sounds of what seem to be helicopters in and around the downtown Houston area, you're not crazy. The Houston Police Department is working with the U.S. Department of Defense as part of a training exercise.

"Residents may hear noise or see helicopters in the day and evening hours during the exercises," HPD wrote on X earlier this month. "This type of collaborative training between local, state and federal partners is very common as we continue to work to provide the best service to the public."

The trainings are being conducted through Friday, Sept. 19, according to the police department.

Several Houston residents wrote this week on social media about concerns over hearing and seeing helicopters in the area.
