A 16-year-old Narbonne High School student died over the weekend after falling from a freeway entrance ramp during a street takeover in the Bay Area.

A Los Angeles Unified School District spokesperson confirmed that Jose Cuevas, a 16-year-old student at the school in Los Angeles' Harbor City area, died in the tragic fall in the Contra Costa County community of Crockett.

"He was a good person," said Andrew Lopez, who said her grew up with Jose. "He liked to put others before himself. It's just been kind of sad, because I had my second period with him and he sat right next to me and it's just empty."
