LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Alexander Isak was named in Liverpool’s starting lineup for the Champions League game against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

The Sweden striker was given the chance to make his debut after completing a British record $170 million deadline day move from Newcastle.

Isak was left out of the squad for Sunday’s 1-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League, but Liverpool coach Arne Slot had said he would be involved in the club’s first European game of the season.

Isak had a disrupted offseason in the face of his protracted move to Premier League champion Liverpool.

His only game this term has been as a late substitute in Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Kosovo last week.

He became one of the most sought-after players in Europe last season after scoring 32 goals
