LAKE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - 22-year-old Rogelio Herrera Jr. was arrested yesterday by the Indiana State Police, on an outstanding warrant, issued by the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.

The extensive investigation that led to this arrest began in California, when the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office got a report about an unknown individual communicating with an 11-year-old boy via several social media platforms.

That child was determined to be safe, as no physical contact was ever made, but several search warrants and subpoenas were issued. Many digital devices were examined during this investigation.

The investigation revealed that communications originated in Indiana, thus the case was transferred to the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
