PLACER COUNTY, Calif. —
A section of Interstate 80 has reopened after being closed for hours due to a big rig on fire near Penryn in Placer County, Caltrans said.
The California Highway Patrol was dispatched around 1:12 p.m. to westbound I-80 just east of Penryn Road, online logs show. It was unclear what caused the fire or if anyone was injured.
Drivers were detoured off the highway at Newcastle Road.
All lanes of westbound I-80 have since reopened, CHP said in an update after 10:30 p.m.
