KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Cooperstown just gained some new memorabilia after a monumental home run over the weekend.
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez reached a pair of milestones on the same swing Saturday night in Philadelphia. With his solo home run in the top of the third inning, Perez reached 300 home runs and 1,000 RBI for his career on the same swing.
Perez became the eighth primary catcher to achieve both milestones in MLB history.
As a result, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum said Perez’s bat from Saturday night has been authenticated and will be on display in the Hall of Fame.
