COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF/AP) - A representative in the Pee Dee is filing a piece of legislation that could make it easier to fire college staff members over social media posts.

Sen. Mike Reichenbach, who represents Darlington and Florence counties, announced on his Facebook page on Wednesday that he is filing the “Remembering Charlie Kirk Act” in South Carolina.

Reichenbach said the legislation “would ensure that public colleges and universities have the flexibility and roadmap to terminate personnel who condone, promote, or encourage acts of violence on campuses.”

This comes as lawmakers have been vocal for universities across South Carolina to take action over staff members posting about the assassination of Kirk.
