Dear Carolyn: It started out as a small thing: My third-grade daughter complained that a sixth-grade boy wouldn’t leave her alone on her walk to and from school. She asked him to leave her alone multiple times, and the boy claimed he needed to protect her. I thanked my daughter for telling me, supported her in saying no and, when no didn’t work, went to the school counselor, who communicated with the boy. Resolved.
