SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux visited C.E. Byrd High School on Wednesday to speak with students about the role of local government and the importance of civic engagement.
The mayor’s visit coincided with Constitution Day which commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. Arceneaux encouraged students to learn about their rights and responsibilities as citizens while highlighting how city government directly impacts their daily lives.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion with the mayor who emphasized the value of participating in democracy at both the local and national levels.
