After more than 20 years of waiting for it to arrive, LA Metro’s A Line light-rail line is no longer scheduled to arrive in Montclair .

The A Line had been the cornerstone of the city’s economic development plans for decades . Developers had purchased property in and around Montclair Transit Center to serve the riders who had been expected to use it to commute between San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties.

But earlier this month, the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority board voted to defund the agency’s part of the planned extension of the A Line (formerly the Gold Line ) from Pomona to Montclair. Board members cited concerns about increasing costs and limited input into decisions related to the project.
