HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - An Evansville woman has been charged with neglect after authorities say children in her home were kept in unsafe and dirty conditions.

According to an affidavit, officers were dispatched to a report of children left unattended inside a vehicle on April 28. During a follow-up visit on May 2, a DCS worker reported that Alendia Joinvil, 29, initially refused to let her enter the home to check the welfare of the children inside. After entering the home, the employee reported finding knives and matches on the floor, dishes containing moldy food and sinks filled with dirty water.
