PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WTVM) - The Phenix City Police Department is mourning the death of Officer Lucas Hunter Bailey, 33, who passed away Monday, Sept. 15, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown with his family by his side.

Bailey, known to many as Luke, was a member of the department’s Special Response Team and served as a field training officer. His supervisor, Lt. Troy Brown, described him as “one of the best officers he had ever commanded,” noting his professionalism and dedication to holding himself and his fellow officers to the highest standards.

Before joining the department, Bailey served four years in the U.S. Army Reserves, continuing a life of selfless service to his community and country.
