A former corrections officer at the Wallkill Correctional Facility has been accused of sexually assaulting a child.

The Ulster County District Attorney's office said Thomas Banks Jr., 35, of Pine Bush, was arraigned Sept. 11 before Ulster County Court Judge Bryan Rounds on an indictment charging him with predatory sexual assault against a child, a felony, and other related charges.

Those other charges are first-degree incest and first-degree aggravated sexual abuse, according to the State Unified Court System.

Banks entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment.

According to the district attorney's office, the indictment resulted from an investigation by the state police. No other details about the allegations against Banks were provided.
