CARTHAGE, Texas — Amid the laughter, music and celebration of the annual Potlatch Festival, one local booth will invite attendees to pause and reflect on a cause that quietly affects many.
SALT—which stands for Save a Life Today—will host its annual Suicide Prevention Walk on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11:30 a.m. The walk will start at the SALT booth outside the Carthage Civic Center and follow two laps around the nearby nature trail. The booth will remain open for those who cannot join the walk but still wish to connect, gather resources or show their support.
A Mission Born From Loss
SALT was founded in 2009 by Diana Bonds after the death of her younger sister. Bonds said the tragedy reshaped her life and revealed a gap in awareness and prevention resources across rural East Texas.
