BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The city of Brooksville Fire Department and Hernando County Fire Rescue will formally consolidate fire protection services.

The move will take effect Oct. 1.

In a news release, Hernando County Fire Rescue said: "This strategic move ensures a unified and enhanced level of fire rescue service across the county."

Hernando County Fire Rescue will assume full responsibility for fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue, emergency medical response services and other related emergency services within the city of Brooksville.

"This transition is designed to strengthen public safety and improve emergency response capabilities for residents and businesses throughout the city," the news release stated.
