WASHINGTON D.C. -- Maine Senator Susan Collins wants answers about what is happening at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

At a committee hearing earlier today, she questioned for CDC director Susan Monarez about the circumstances that led to her abrupt firing, and the response to a recent measles outbreak.

She asked Monarez what the implications for public health would be if important scientific decisions at the CDC are being made by political staff rather than career scientists.
