(NewsNation) — "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker announced Wednesday's episode of the show would not be airing after it wasn't finished in time.

The duo said, "This one's on us," and thanked the network and fans for being understanding.

The pair signed a $1.5 billion deal to produce 50 episodes of the satirical cartoon for Paramount, and the controversial show has already made waves in its 27th season.

The first episode of the season slammed both Paramount and President Donald Trump, mocking the president's lawsuit and the company's settlement.

An episode of the show that featured commentary on Charlie Kirk was also pulled from the air following the conservative political activist's assassination.

The postponed episode is now set to air Sept. 24.
