GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. —

Dismissal has been delayed for a high school in Greenville County on Wednesday after a report of a student having a weapon.

At 3:51 p.m., Principal Jeremy Carrick at Carolina High School said officials received a report that a student may have had a weapon on campus.

Law enforcement and the school administration immediately responded and put the school on hold. This means everyone remains in place while a search occurs and no one can enter or exit the building.

Officials said the student was identified and searched, but nothing was found.

Out of an abundance of caution, the EVOLV Weapons Detection System was brought on campus and all students are currently going through the system.

As a result of the search, dismissal will be delayed.
