MADISON (WKOW) -- Wednesday, journalists and community leaders got the chance to walk in the shoes of people who were formerly incarcerated as they return to civilian life.
The simulation, hosted by JustDane and Ascendium Education Group, is meant to give people a look at the challenges faced when they return to the community.
Obstacles with housing, transportation, employment, education and health care can all lead back to prison.
"We can't just release people and not provide those opportunities. We say we you know, you served your time and you're done, but if we keep punishing people, that's not actually true," said JustDane Executive Director Linda Ketcham.
