No injuries reported after fire at Lufkin strip shopping center

LUFKIN, Texas — The Lufkin Fire Department doused a structure fire in the 1000 block of S. John Redditt Drive.

According to Lufkin FD, the fire occurred around 10:16 p.m. on Tuesday, a commercial structure fire occurred in a strip shopping center. Lufkin FD dispatched four engines, one ladder and three chiefs alongside 20 personnel.

The first unit on scene reported light smoke coming from the roof of the building and one business with heavy smoke inside at 10:20 p.m., Lufkin FD said.

Fire crews evacuated the occupants of one business and made entry into the location with heavy smoke. The fire in that location was extinguished and the fire was called under control by 10:30 p.m., Lufkin FD said.

The fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
