CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Leilani Simon, the woman found guilty in the 2022 murder of her toddler son, amended the previous motion for a new trial on Sept. 12.
The motion for a new trial was originally filed on Nov. 24, 2024, after the guilty verdict was returned on Oct. 25, 2024.
The amendment to the motion includes the argument that the court erred in denying the motion for directed verdict of acquittal, citing insufficient evidence under the standard set forth in Jackson v. Virginia.
