A bomb that was found in the bathroom of a public bathroom at Sunset Bay State Recreation Site on Sept. 16 was deactivated by state police.
Oregon State Parks rangers discovered a suspicious backpack at 10:21 a.m. at the north coast state park in Clatsop County and contacted Oregon State Police.
Bomb technicians from OSP and the Salem Police Department responded to the scene, officials said.
“No injuries were associated with this incident,” a news release said. “While this is believed to be an isolated incident, the public should remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects to local law enforcement by calling 911 and remaining at a safe distance from the object.”
