KINGSBRIDGE, the Bronx (PIX11) --- A man is accused of punching and raping a 33-year-old woman near a Bronx supermarket early Tuesday morning, police said Wednesday.
Nicholas DeJesus, 42, allegedly attacked the woman on the street near the Kingsbridge Stop & Shop at 5716 Broadway at around 5:30 a.m., according to the NYPD.
The suspect allegedly pulled down her shorts and raped her, sources said. The victim suffered several cuts on the body and was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.
DeJesus, a Manhattan resident, was last seen running away on 233rd Street before he was arrested Tuesday evening in the Bronx.
He was charged with rape, sex abuse, assault, and harassment, police said. His arraignment was pending on Wednesday.
